What Does Operation New World Do?
Operation New World is an educational Charity established in 1992 in order to provide self-help programmes for young people in need of the knowledge, guidance and necessary skills to become competitive in the current jobs market. Although the courses focus upon the huge and rapidly expanding environmental jobs sector, which provides employment at all levels from manual labour to consultancy and executive, it has been designed to develop an extensive range of transferable skills necessary in todays’ world of work.
The UK based element of the programme is primarily concerned with developing the ability to effectively search the jobs market; produce an appropriate, targeted cv and succeed at interview.
The complementary field work is used as a vehicle to develop skills in planning, organising, teamwork, and leadership, with classroom sessions designed to develop self-confidence and communication abilities.
Anne Leonard, Chairman of the organisation says: “I wanted to help young people who could not get jobs and were getting depressed on the benefits system.”
It is controlled by a Council of Management.
